For beginning students, I tend to use the Faber Primer level course which includes a lesson book, theory book, performance book, and technique book. This set, along with supplemental material will provide your student with the backbone in music education they need to perform well in any direction they wish to take their private piano studies. I also worked as a tutor at Berklee College of Music during my study. Dicipline may be the most important thing to emphasize in the very beginning stage of learning.
