In lessons, I emphasize enjoying the process of learning. Learning an instrument does not happen over night. It takes years of practice and can be a joyful task if one enjoys the process. I send my students home with new goals each week to help guide their practice. Read More

I am a musician in many aspects...mainly as a music teacher in Albuquerque Public Schools, and also my job in the Army as a member of the 44th Army Band. I also teach private lessons at a local studio, and I can be found in Old Town on Wednesday and sometimes Saturday nights jamming with the Jazz musicians of this wonderful city. I have taught choir and band from the 5th grade level all the way up through high school including subjects like music theory, jazz band, treble choir, marching band, and percussion ensemble. Whenever I meet with someone, I feel it's always best to get to know them and ask them "why music?". From there it sparks a conversation, and we start setting goals - which is super important! This is how we check in with ourselves along the way to make sure that the student is getting the most out of their lessons. I will also ask them questions about their practice regimen (if they already have one) and come up with improvements to help them practice more efficiently. Read More

I have taught both privately and in a classroom setting. In addition to my school performances, I have also played with many bands since the age of seventeen. In general, I have been teaching since 2004 and it is the best job in the world! I absolutely love teaching and I always apply an enthusiastic mindset when I am teaching. Some of my students who have taken lessons with me have moved on to join the school band, play at concerts and competitions, and write their own music! Testimonial from BM: One of my student's parents recently commented to me in an email the following about her daughter: "She LOVES piano and she ADORES you...everytime we leave, she comments, 'Adrienne is the best piano teacher ever'." Hello! I have enjoyed teaching children, competing, accompanying for universities, studying music theory, playing for weddings and nursing homes, and playing at my church for the past eleven years. My piano experience spans over 20 years now, having included exciting opportunities such as the 2016 New Years jazz concert in London at Codagen Hall (Queen Elizabeth wrote everyone a letter thanking them for helping with the celebration!). These past several years have taught me that teaching is an entirely different privilege, skill, and joy to me as I grow in my musicianship alongside my students. Read More

I've been teaching piano for 13 years, and was trained to do so by a woman who is skilled in the art of pedagogy. That was my first job, and later on I opened my own private studio. At one point I've had up to 45 students, and I've enjoyed working with all of them. I give recitals 4 times a year which helps me see progress in my students. We've tried all kinds of performances, some with themes. The last one I did was a recital with only 70's pop and rock songs. They really enjoyed that one! Read More

While getting my Masters in Music, I assisted teaching Music Theory at the University of Iowa. From there,I taught classes of students at the West Bank School Of Music in Minneapolis. From the Midwest to the Southwest: I taught students at Los Angeles schools and privately there also. I learned what were the best musical works with which to engage students: - Beloved classics by Beethoven, Chopin and others - New Age music by Winston, Einaudi, and Yanni - Gospel works in the best arrangements for a student's level, and - Folk music and works from American History, such as Ragtime, classic Blues, and Jazz-Age music.
