Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard

Piano students will also learn basic rhythm comping skills and learn what it's like to play in a rhythm section while I accompany them on drum set.  I have my lesson booklet available for purchase in which each student can design their own curriculum to meet their goals.  I also recommend additional books for each student as they develop more specific interests and needs. Piano/keyboard students will learn all scales/ chord progressions, soloing ideas and work out of a fake book. Read More

Setting S.M.A.C. goals for my students is very important. These are specific, measurable, achievable and challenging. Nothing makes me feel more accomplished as when I help my student feel accomplished and reach their goals. I have a very non critical approach and encourage mistakes with a non judgemental attitude. I feel this lightens up the atmosphere and allows the student to grow at a much more rapid rate. Read More

Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice

I believe it's really important for my students to feel encouraged and not overwhelmed. Though there is a time for challenging tasks, creating clearly defined goals before and after each lesson and practice session is key to maintaining that encouragement. I like to ease my students into more challenging material and larger work loads, rather than throwing so much on them at once that they don't know where to begin. Read More

As a teacher, I believe that the study of music can be beneficial for anyone, whether they choose to become professional musicians or not. To perform music well, great discipline and work ethic to commit to deliberate daily practice is necessary. Practicing music also develops a student's problem solving ability. Performing music also requires one to work with other musicians, developing teamwork. It also develops the ability to perform under pressure. Read More

While teaching and directing in Northwest Indiana I began to write and compose music for my own projects which led me to traveling overseas and touring across America, playing thousands of venues, sharing the stage with well known artists all while sharing my music. I've also recorded dozens of records from coast to coast. I lived in Nashville, TN for a few years composing, recording and performing, and recently moved to Atlanta over the last two years. For beginner strings I use several method books (elementary and 6th students can come with prescribed method books from their public school teacher) such as Essential Elements, Orchestra Expressions, String Essentials. If parents would like to use solo books, I use Suzuki Method Books (not necessarily the method of only learning by ear) in conjunction with note reading workbooks. As they age I use other method books (violin, viola, cello. double bass) such as Wohlfahrt, Mazas, Kreutzer, Flesch, Schradieck, Dont, Bach Sonatas and Partitas, Rick Mooney's shifting and thump position book series, Klengel, Bach Cello Suites, Popper, PIatti, Smandl Method, Fischer, and of course as they advance any standard sonatas and concerti, such as Mozart 5 in AM, Mendelssohn in em, Hadyn Concerto in CM, anything from the Baroque, classical, and romantic era. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
