I start my younger students with Alfred's Basic Piano Library Prep Course For The Young Beginner. This series incorporates basic music theory in each lesson which is imperative for success on the piano. The lessons use graphics, language and examples that children can easily grasp, and are lots of fun to read and play. As their skills improve, I play an accompaniment for encouragement and fun. The most rewarding thing in my life is seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I believe it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace no matter what. I set realistic goals for my students at each lesson as the next lesson will be intertwined with the last. It is encouraging when students gain praise for their accomplishments. A book that I use for lip slurs is the Irons book, this book contains extensive exercises for lip flexibility. I also use a lot of exercises that I either learned from other trumpet players, or ones that I made up on my own to target specific things. I have a love for teaching as well as for learning, and am always sudying something new. I have experience performing in a range of styles, from classical to jazz to rock and pop to bluegrass. After graduating from Reinhardt University, I took contracts on cruise ships, playing electric bass in show bands and orchestras on Carnival and Princess cruise lines; this gave me the chance to see much of the world, as well as the opportunity to perform challenging music nightly. I'm very passionate to share my love for music with students that are eager to learn. I started playing the violin at the age of 5 and switched to the viola at the end of middle school. I'm born in Bulgaria, and in 2011 moved to the United States to pursue my higher education. I completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Viola Performance, at the University of Georgia.
