I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I was the principle pianist for the Martin Symphonic Orchestra and one of the main soloists for the Martin Jazz Group. I was an opening act performing on synthesizer with my band at the Kansas City Music Festival. I've won many awards and medals competing on flute and saxophone at the local and state level. Read More

I'm an organized and efficient teacher who loves to find ways to push students to the next level; whether that level is playing professionally or as a hobby. I believe in clear direction and learning how to play the right way the first time. I have been teaching lessons since 2006 when I started as a music major at Asbury Univeristy, a private, liberal arts college outside of Lexington, KY. Because of my love of music I consdier myself a lifelong learner and it is my passion to teach what I've learned to others. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet French Horn
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. These are some of my approaches and I also like to reach on how to play by ear. Read More
Instruments: Drums
For beginning students of any age, I always start with learning the correct way to hold a drumstick and how to get the proper sound out of the drums. Once a good fulcrum and technique are established, I'll typically move on to a brief lesson on terminology. The drum set can be a complicated instrument to set up and use and I like to give my students a good foundation in that area. Read More
Instruments: Piano
My teaching experience goes back to after college days, as I began teaching private lessons two years ago, and have been consistently teaching in the classroom and at home for 4 years. I always encourage regular practice on a consistent basis because its the only way to progress and be great. I've found that helping students learn their interested genre makes them stay passionate about piano and motivate them to practice and learn more. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet
My teaching style starts with really trying to understand the student that I am teaching, when I can do that, it makes the whole process of teaching easier. For example, in my experience, something that works for some students, really wont work for others, and if I can identify why something isnt working for a student, I can give them the right tools to fix it. I will usually start with asking the student to play something for me or see what they want to learn, then give them things based on what I hear in their playing, or what they tell me. Read More
