For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I not only use books, but videos, lots of exercises to use when at home and formal presentations. Read More

My solo pianist experiences revolve around exploring (and occasionally premiering) the earliest, latest, and least known works of well-known composers. I have performed in ensemble with UMBCs New Music Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Collegium Musicum - also paid accompanist at UMBC. I have experience performing for professional recordings. I was part of an interactive concert in Baltimore and have had experience creating and delivering lesson plans to elementary school students. Read More

My teaching style is integrative and interactive. I tend to write, record, and encourage local performances for my student base. I like for students and parents to have something to show for their efforts in music, whether it be a recording or performance. I tend to get my students more excited than most because I prioritize understanding my students’ taste in music. My past students have commented that this was their favorite part about our lessons, was the fact that we were playing music the student actually likes. Read More

Greetings! My name is Bill Wisnom, and I have been a musician for the vast majority of my life. I began studying piano at the age of 11, and was later accepted into the Peabody Preparatory at the age of 14. I spent my teenage years devoted to a life of practice and performance with the intention of entering university as a piano major. At the age of 17, I began studying organ, and was later accepted into the undergraduate program at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY. Read More

My teaching style is informed by trauma-informed care and a student-led philosophy. This means that I take into account the frustration that learning a new instrument can entail, and use therapeutic techniques to make sure my students are regulated during these moments of frustration. I provide structure and guidance for my students, but give them opportunities for free exploration, decision making, and leadership throughout a lesson. During lessons, I like to emphasize practice techniques and thinking outside the box when approaching difficult or new musical content. Read More

For beginning students I typically start with Bastien piano books which have 4 different levels. Once they finish 4 levels, I will begin to introduce classical songs, Hymn, Jazz, Game music, Pop and also teach them free styles with chord progressions. Also, my students can learn any songs they want to play since I am able to remake songs based on their level. For adults, I focus on teaching the sight-reading skill with the right technic and theory and also my adult students can learn any genre of music with me. Read More

I teach breath support, vocal range expansion, resonance, tone placement, posture, proper diction, sight reading notes, ear training, releasing tension and stage performance. I can help my students improve technique for any genres of music they want with a focus on building a solid and healthy technique. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Alfred’s piano book library Essential Elements. I recommend Alfred’s Prep course for age of 5 to 6 years old. Read More
