For beginner piano students, I have two methods books that I use. For young children, I use the Bastion Piano Basics series. It is colorful, fun, and exciting for young learners. It is also very informative, so parents can help their young ones practice if they need the help! For beginning adult students, I use the Faber Adult Piano Adventures series, as this is more tailored to older students. For beginning students, I would suggest that a practice log be kept in terms of how long they practice each day along with an outline of which exercises or pieces should be done for that amount of time. I suggest students take breaks, even every 5-10 minutes as it relaxes the fingers and the mind and helps minimize frustration or boredom.
