I love to see my students become successful! I do my best to tailor each lesson to their specific needs and goals. I will always encourage and bring them up to a new level; but I am very encouraging and want them to have fun. I will teach a person as many ways as I can to get them to understand a concept; relying on intuition and the multiple intelligence theory. Read More

My favorite part of teaching is seeing students enjoy learning and exploring music. Each student will go at different paces however I place the same goals on every student: always improving and always committed to excellence. Even if the improvements are small, I always say, several small wins equal big wins. For each lesson I give specific goals related to whatever is currently being worked on, tailoring the instruction for the student to understand and scaffolded for them to succeed. Read More

I have taught nearly every instrument in a standard orchestra. I have taught singing, guitars and such, music theory composing and sight singing as well as sight reading and music history. It is always essential that the student is excited about the genre(s) we use in learning music. Yes if music is not fun then it is worthless. That being said fun is a many splendor thing. I started teaching guitar in my teens. Read More

I always try to adapt to the student's preferences as far as learning, playing, length of lesson, amount of information, all-around comfortability. Goals are important, but so is acknowledging a student's progress and accomplishment / improvement. I do not believe in negative reinforcement, I'm very patient. Piano is a very difficult instrument to learn, at first it can be extremely overwhelming (especially for a pre-teen) so it's super important to take it one step at a time and have the first couple lessons be laid-back and relaxed, with no pressure. For beginning students, I typically teach using Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book and the Flesch Urstudien book. Every student is different. I treat my students as individuals and adjust my teaching style to achieve optimal results. The way you practice reflects on how much enjoyment you get from playing and how well you perform at recitals/auditions, etc… I spend a significant amount of time, especially with new students, on the art of practicing. I began teaching private lessons while I was in high school about six years ago and have continued teaching privately ever since. I really enjoy passing on information that I have learned throughout the years to other aspiring individuals. I continue to stress to my students the importance of listening to all types of music as well as having a regular practice schedule. I always try and make sure that the student is having fun and is working on material that they truly enjoy. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
