My main goal is for students to discover all the music has to offer, beyond simply being able to play their instrument. I come from a strict classical background but now find myself having to be a versatile musician who appreciates and can perform all styles of music. Whether music is just a hobby, a future career, or just a trial, I aim to unlock a new creative potential and form of expression that encourages a lifelong love for all music. Read More

I also wholeheartedly believe that although it may not be aligned with personal preference, it is imperative that all musicians, vocalist, and instrumentalist alike should be exposed to all genres of music for experience sake. It is important to practice, but it is even easier to listen. The classical technique has a rich history and practical use in many genres, so it is a good thing that you approach different styles and dissect what makes each unique in their own way. Read More

I have had a strong passion for music for as long as I can remember. It brings me great joy to share and teach my passion with other aspiring musicians. I recently graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Master of Music in Jazz Studies degree. I have been very fortunate to tour with the band, ILL Doots, multiple times in addition to performing in various settings that constantly push my musical boundaries whether I'm playing drums, vibes, piano, or auxilliary percussion. After that I still try to keep it relaxed but a bit more focused. The first lesson with any student is usually a sort of trial-and-error phase until the student starts to feel comfortable with methods/approach. I do use books but don't rely on them. If a student is really trying to focus on a particular aspect of music, like for example phrasing during improvisation, then I can share my own knowledge and recommend professional material to them. While teaching, I create a very friendly and welcome environment. Comfort between the student and teacher is critical in order to progress with technique and repertoire. I open the floor to questions, concerns and truly want to hear what the students perspectives are. With beginner students, the primary focus is on breath management, developing flexibility between ranges, and applying technique to repertoire. For more advanced singers, I am able to help prepare for auditions or performances and focus more on the quality and control of the voice. Read More

Regardless of the age of the student, I want to ensure that the music we work on is both enjoyable for them and healthy for their voice. I do research for each individual student so that the correct repertoire is chosen! For beginning students who are ages 7-12, I begin with folk songs and Disney songs. These have simpler melodies and engaging text that help younger students stay interested. For beginning students that are 12-18, I will begin with folk songs and musical theatre songs, moving to art song and classical pieces. Read More
