Encouragement is key to my teaching style. Praising a students accomplishments motivates them to higher goals. Each student has different needs. What is good for one is not good for another. I have to be flexible in my teaching. Some students love classical music others love new age. I am willing to try new music, and try to listen to the students. For my first lessons I teach the notes of the guitar and some simple chords. I like to find out beforehand what the students are most interested in learning. Then I gather pieces from my students based on what they are interested in and teach them these pieces. I teach tabs and sheets music for guitar as well as different styles from rock to blues to classical. I also like to find out what they family is looking for the child to learn over time. Read More

With beginners its perfect to start with the Rubank series from Beginner-Intermediate. Many students are given the "Standard of Excellence" series by their school teacher and that series works as well. I believe these books are a great start, but can get old fast. Read More

I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
