As a recent transplant to Brooklyn, I look forward to using my experience to build a successful portfolio of new students in New York. My goals are to help each student build solid musical and instrumental fundamentals, to guide students in exploring their own personalized interests and passions within music, and to help students develop qualities of confidence, hard work, and empathy that come with experiencing music and will serve them in all areas of their lives. I follow the classic Hal Leonard method books to begin and then, depending on the students goals and musical tastes move on to other books and works. For Jazz students I use The Real Book Vol. 1 For most students a fundamental part of understanding music and the instrument itself is music theory. Students will be given some basic music theory and reading skills to reinforce their guitar training. The most important thing to me is that the students learn and play music that they want to study. I can best describe my musical teaching style as relaxing, attentive, encouraging and professional. As a mother myself, I have a deep understanding of how a child develops through the different stages of life and how they learn the best. I believe every student has their own method and speed of learning and I am here to teach and encourage them through this beautiful journey of music. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my students learning happily, enjoying music and developing a lifelong love of music. Read More

I believe a major key to success in learning music is finding the methods and concepts that click for you. There are infinite ways to think of a phrase or harmonic relationships and I work to learn which connections make sense to you. One major takeaway from my own education has been how to listen to my playing objectively and free of self-judgement. I constantly encourage my students to develop a similar mindset, since I see self-encouragement as much more important than encouragement from a teacher or an audience. Read More

I have developed a method for guitar students of all ages to quickly learn chords and scales so that they can not only learn the chord progression to songs, they can also find the correct scale to "solo" and improvise over them. Once the chord structure and scale are learned I accompany the student, playing along with them so that they can practice playing with another musician and soloing. I have also developed a full curriculum for teaching bass guitar to all ages and skill levels. Read More
