I am a dedicated and determined voice teacher, with a passion rooted in the desire to develop a healthy vocal technique. In 2022, I graduated with my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University. Over the past ten years, I have spent time performing on stage in concerts, operas, and musical theatre. To me, that means training studentsin the styles of music that each individual feels the most connected to, and then extending their knowledge and awareness to styles that they may not have as much experience with. I believe that an in depth study of music is, in essence, the study of communication. My musical background is eclectic. Most of my training is in music composition and theory; I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Master's of Music degree in Composition, and from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory. I regard composition as my primary musical skill. However, I've agressively sought to master a large amount of piano music over the course of about twenty years, and my technique has subsequently advanced to a high level. Read More

For me, the best part of teaching is helping students grow, and helping them realize their musical abilities and self-reliance. I feel that my role as a teacher is to present new information or challenges, and aid the student in learning how to address those challenges on their own. I find that this encourages the students to want to learn more and more to expand their own musical and technical literacy, and it makes them much more prepared for individual practice, ensemble playing, and future challenges where they have to rely on themselves. My Teaching experience really started just after graduating high school working with my School's marching band. Although this was not an official position until more recently, my time volunteering surrounded me with successful educators who I observed and learned from. A more recent teaching experience for myself was teaching the University of Maine's (Orono) marching band and percussion section. For one week I worked closely with the a group of 15 students developing skills in percussion while teaching material to be played at school football games. Read More

I am passionate about teaching, and want my students to succeed. I have been playing clarinet since I was 10 years old, and the saxophone for 40 years. I am a graduate of the Hartt School, where I majored in Jazz Studies, with saxophone performance. I have played in bands on cruise ships, performed in Latin, Rock, Jazz and RB Bands. I have been on recordings with Jimmy Perez, a salsa singer, and Simply Swing, a 10 piece Swing Band. Read More
