I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. I know it helped me when I was studying voice. Along with voice I find it important that a student understands and grasps the concepts of general music theory and the history of the pieces and composers of which they will be studying in hopes that such information will create an even deeper understanding and love for music. My students will be encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as finding music that they would like to perform, so that they can feel good about their voice and stay motivated to learn. I personalize my lesson plans and drills to accommodate the student's strengths, weaknesses, and over all goal. I will push you to your limits so you can go even further than you thought you could. I grew up singing in the children's choruses of The Metropolitan Opera and NYC Opera, dancing at The School of American Ballet in The Julliard School at Lincoln Center. I earned a college preparatory diploma from The Manhattan School of Music and went on to earn my BM and MM at Westminster Choir College (a world renowned choral conservatory in Princeton, NJ). After that I moved back to NYC where I maintained a wonderful studio of singers and some pianists for about five years. 6 years ago I moved out to New Haven where I have made my home. Read More

I have been teaching for 10 years, both privately and in schools. I have taught voice, piano, acting, general music education and directed choirs. I emphasize a performance based approach to music. I believe that communication is the essence and purpose of music, and good technique cannot be divorced from performance. I find that creating an warm, open, non-judgmental environment in lessons allows my students to get in touch with the meaning of the music and allows them to add their own personality to their piece to create a truly individual interpretation and performance.
