I have been teaching privately for the past 7 years and absolutely love it! I love helping my students achieve their goals weather that be concrete or abstract! I've been teaching classes and lessons at the university level for the past two years as well. I have mostly been teaching in trombone (all genres), jazz improvisation, ear training, and music theory but am comfortable teaching within many other concepts. I have been teaching piano on and off for the past 2 years and teach piano at a very beginning level. Read More

For beginning students I like to start with the Standard of Excellence book 1. Getting through that book we would advance to Rubanks Advanced Method Vol. 1 book. Perfecting the sound and tone is key to making a piece of music sound good followed by inputting expression and giving it color to a piece making it have more characteristic than just a piece of music. I try to keep it fun and exciting to keep the interest in learn stay captivated no matter their ability level. Read More

My philosophy is creating a solid musical foundation for students to deepen their understanding of singing and playing the piano. I always try my best to convey the basic musical knowledge to students, helping students develop their ability to recognize, read, listen, response, notate, understand rhythmic patterns and experiences in different musical cultures. Some of the main areas which students would have an opportunity to learn in general music class are Rhythm, Pitch, Texture/Harmony, and Form. Read More

I would always follow each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. For children, I would also offer a reward such as candy to boost their excitement and passion for learning piano. When it comes to piano theory, I would reward them with a sticker on their homework page that is completed on time. Read More

I have been lucky enough to have been studying music since I was very little, and so it's now my drive and motivation to share all the lessons, insights, and wonders I've learned from studying a wide variety of instruments and types of music. I'm in my final year of a Music Education degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Music Technology minor. I've been trained as a singer (both as an adult Baritone as well as a soloist Boy Soprano) and as a Saxophonist (all varieties) formally, and a Drum Corps International educated brass player. I am someone who believes that nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! That's why it is so important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
