For beginning students I like to start with the Standard of Excellence book 1. Getting through that book we would advance to Rubanks Advanced Method Vol. 1 book. Perfecting the sound and tone is key to making a piece of music sound good followed by inputting expression and giving it color to a piece making it have more characteristic than just a piece of music. I did a lot of YouTube videos for them. I have helped them with performing opportunities such as at churches and events in Lincoln. I always create a connection between learning and performance so that students can strive for the best results to look toward. I don't hesitate to share my experiences to my students so that they have the opportunity to interact and learn in many music areas besides learning piano and singing such as ear training, theory, composition, using the software to record music, and a bunch of other things. Blake has performed as part of the Grammy Jazz Band, Jazz Band of America, Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, Iowa All-state Jazz Band, Iowa All-state Band, Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, The Symphony of Northern Arkansas and the Brubeck Jazz Colony. Blake recently graduated with his masters in trombone performance from the University of Arkansas where he served as a teaching assistant to the trombone studio. While in Arkansas, Blake held the position of 2nd trombone in the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra. Read More
