Overview:

My ultimate aim in teaching is to build a solid foundation of music based on the musical ability of each age group and offer a suitable curriculum. In Vietnam, I had a four-year Intermediate Education Diploma in voice. I took many opportunities to be a volunteer musician at church since she 8 years old until now in singing and playing the piano. I have my own private voice and piano studio for all different ages. I'm currently a leader of Vietnamese band in Lincoln. My band performs for any Vietnamese events, the weddings or church events. I have earned so much experiences during UNL practicum time in several different schools in Lincoln. Overall, I have experience in teaching and performing in a variety of formats

EXPERIENCE

I have experience in teaching piano more than 10 years in Vietnam and in the US. I taught in many music studios back in Vietnam and always won the title of excellent teacher of the months. I have taught many different ages both singing and piano. At each different age, I will have a different curriculum to help students get the best learning results. I am confident that I have coached many students to achieve good results. I did a lot of YouTube videos for them. I have helped them with performing opportunities such as at churches and events in Lincoln. I always create a connection between learning and performance so that students can strive for the best results to look toward. I don't hesitate to share my experiences to my students so that they have the opportunity to interact and learn in many music areas besides learning piano and singing such as ear training, theory, composition, using the software to record music, and a bunch of other things.

METHODS USED

My philosophy is creating a solid musical foundation for students to deepen their understanding of singing and playing the piano. I always try my best to convey the basic musical knowledge to students, helping students develop their ability to recognize, read, listen, response, notate, understand rhythmic patterns and experiences in different musical cultures. Some of the main areas which students would have an opportunity to learn in general music class are Rhythm, Pitch, Texture/Harmony, and Form. I've used a lot of resources such as Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber, Piano Library and Ear Training by Alfred. Beside of those excellent books, I would encourage students to explore Jazz, Country and Pop music. The students always find a great connection if they can notate or find a cool melody from a popular music tune.

LESSON STYLE

I always set clear goals and assign homework to students to ensure quality learning in the most effective way. I will grade and provide learning strategies to students. I promote the spirit of self-studying at home before going to a lesson, so students will learn more new knowledge than just passively listening to what is learned in class. I always create games or interesting things in class so that students have a positive view of learning music. With a relaxed learning spirit, I believe that students can be creative and learn music enthusiastically. My students usually study with me for a long time from 3 years or more. I've seen their musical sensibilities change from year to year and help them to have an overview of music as a musician.

She is a very kind teacher who always tries to help others when they make mistakes and if they don’t know something she will try her best to explain. She also has fun music and games for us to do and doesn’t make practice boring.

your teaching is good because you help me by showing me what the song sounds like and how my fingers should be placed. You also help with using different apps and showing the new skills.
