Once the students have learned the basics, I play for them several pieces they would want to play for the next recital coming up so they can have an idea of what they like. I'm a passionate musician that has a love for teaching. I graduate in 2017 from Alderson Broaddus University with a bachelors degree in Music Education, Music Performance, and Musical Arts. Then in 2019 I graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory with a Masters degree in Music Performance. After that I was the second trombonist with the Loudon Symphony Orchestra and the principal trombone of the 2019 Shenandoah Summer Music Theater company. I have had the great opportunity to perform with a very wide variety of ensembles and as a soloist in some amazing venues, most recently on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center. Read More

I have been trained in various styles ranging from classical, musical theatre, pop, country, etc. I write my own songs as well, and would love to encourage and assist budding songwriters with their craft. I then move on to basic note recognition on paper. This allows them to be able to visually identify when notes are moving up and down and so on. Once they become more comfortable with this method, I move onto memorizing and learning new repertoire. For more advanced students, I really try to hone in on these things while also focusing deeper on their technique. I attended West Texas State University (now AM) in Canyon Texas from 1981 - 1983. In 1983, I decided to pursue a professional music career and tour with bands.
