I really can't say much different from what I said in my methods, my methods and teaching style are singular and at one with each other, My goals and agendas while flexible for different students have been balanced by years and thousands of lessons into my own styles of teaching. I did take a Pedagogy course as well and teaching is a real art. I take students into music they're interested in right away if they already know what they like. Read More

Instruments: Piano Organ Synthesizer Accordion

I have been playing keyboards since I was 7 years old, starting with the accordion. As I grew older I began playing all other keyboard instruments. I have been playing in multiple venues and genres for over 30 years, and teaching for as long. I am very passionate about my craft, and truly enjoy passing my love for music and my knowledge of music to anyone wanting to learn. Read More

The method used for teaching a student how to enjoy music should be practical, intuitive, and natural. I begin by training a student how to listen (in the same way that a child would hear words before he could speak). From that point, a student learns to "speak" or play musical sentences. Finally, the reading skills are developed. Through this approach, musical literacy is founded and then the art of mastering the instrument begins by developing sensitivity and fine musicianship. Instruments: Piano

For all students (beginners and students with prior experience) I begin with teaching scales and arpeggios. Scales and arpeggios are the foundation of keyboard technique, and are found in all piano repertoire the student will encounter. I generally use the Macfarren Scale and Arpeggio Manual for older children/adults (those who read music) or the Scales, Chords, Arpeggios, and Cadences: First Book (Alfred) for children. If my student cannot read music I teach them scales and arpeggios without music, while teaching them how to read music from a method book. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music ! Therefore its important that each student progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for each student. Acknowledging accomplishments help fuel a students desire to progress. I tailor lessons to the students level as well as there interest in music. Many of my students have gone on to become professionals or involved in their church, school or community music programs. Instruments: Cello

I began teaching cello in my early 20s, teaching public school strings classes and private pupils while in my undergrad at UTC. I also taught throughout my graduate degree, teaching privately, cover teaching undergraduate students for my teacher, and also teaching college students. In addition, I led orchestra sectionals, coached student chamber music ensembles, sat on jury panels, and wrote and performed programs for entire classes of K-12 students. In addition, I have experience as a professional contracted and freelance classical cellist - I've played with orchestras, recorded sessions, and performed in a string quartet professionally. Instruments: Voice

For beginning students, I typically start with a little music theory so that they understand how everything works together. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I love inspiring students and learning what their goals are to ensure they are set up for success to make money doing what they love, to be able to perform in front of an audience, and encourage them to reach whatever goals they might have! Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
