I like to start beginning students with the Rubank Elementary series of books. Along with the Rubank books, I like to also focus on music being covered in school, if applicable. For more advanced students, I focus on the mastery of scales, technique, intonation, and sound production. I like to use the Andersen etude series, but this will vary from student to student. I have taught college music appreciation classes, high school and middle band as well as elementary music. Growing up in Memphis, I began playing the piano at age 6. After moving to bass guitar a few years later, I finally picked up my brother's acoustic guitar and never looked back. At Vanderbilt University, I studied music and English and began gigging professionally in Nashville while still finishing my degree.
