This means in addition to talking about technique, we will discuss theory and history related to the instrument and repertoire (depending on level of the student) as well as healthy and productive practice habits. When I think about a student learning wintry to put myself in there shoes. They want to feel like they have something to show for the time that they were the class session. . if we have an hour session and at the end of the session they can go out and show off what they learned then they will. There, I was just an extra pair of ears, but it helped me to focus on my own technique and how to most efficiently play my instrument. I have been singing ever since I can remember and started taking lessons at the age of 7. My vocal studies brought me to complete my Masters degree in Vocal Performance at UNCG. Though the focus of my degree was Opera, I am practiced in many different genres of music. My classical education has given me a thorough understanding of the vocal instrument and allowed me to healthily, comfortably, and with ease be able to branch out into a variety of different genres. My teaching expereince dates back to before I graduated undergraduate school. Since I had a semester to wait for Commencement, I was afforded an opportunity to work as a Teacher assistant, in an Open Classroom Learning Environment. This immediately preceded a very rewarding Student Teaching experience in the rural southern state of North Carolina. I was as challenging an experience as I have ever had being that my travel mileage on some days was as much as 80 miles. Upon my return to New York, I was afforded an opportunity to teach Beginner Band Grades 4,5 and 6, per diem for one year.
