Hello! I am an active clarinetist and teacher located in the Twin Cities. I have just completed my DMA in Clarinet Performance at the University of Minnesota. I have a wide experience performing solo, chamber and orchestral music performing in various genras, from classical music to more modern and some types of folk classical music. I am classically trained but I also compose music extensively on a daily basis . I have had a life long passion for music and started playing when I was eight years old. I am currently the pianist for the ballet program at Macalester College, LIse Houlton's professional class at MDT, the Metropolitan Ballet, and Ballet Minnesota. I absolutely believe in choosing music for a student that will help improve specific areas of vocal technique, but also music about which the student feels passionate. As students master the exercises new ones are assigned and worked on. Additionally, I assign repertoire that enables the student to work on the needed technical skills. In terms of repertoire selection, I always keep the student's interests in mind, but I always make sure that the student has one piece that has been carefully curated by me. In general I teach scales, reading music, learning to sight read, metronme training, along with muscle development and strengthening. I teach all styles of music for both strings and piano and have had very successful students young and old.
