In 2015, I graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. Performing in a number of church groups, choirs, operas, and musicals have been enjoyable experiences in my collegiate and professional career as a musician over the last 12 years. I am passionate about working with people of all ages, and helping them grow as musicians and develop a lifelong love of music.  After I graduated college in 2004, I went on to teach music in Wisconsin, Hawaii, and now Washington. I have taught voice lessons to a wide range of students of different ages and abilities, and have also taught beginning piano lessons. Through music I have performed across the United States in places such as the Kennedy Center.  I have also toured Europe twice as part of different choral ensembles, and sung in the most amazing cathedrals and castles. From there, I get them to start incorporating some fills. I try to find out what kinds of music the student likes, and continue teaching them a few more grooves and fills and some other simple songs going off of that. I also start explaining subdivisions some more at this point. From there, I typically start to get into some rudiments and basic exercises. Often, I find I end up introducing some simple ones much earlier to help students over a hump in learning a groove or a fill. Read More

In 2009, I graduated from the University of Missouri with a masters degree in music composition and a focus on music theory pedagogy. I teach piano, violin, and viola. I believe every person learns differently and thrives off of positive reinforcement, which is why I base my curriculum solely on who I'm currently working with. Every student I work with has their own specific curriculum. Every week I'll have an assignment for the student to practice that will be expected to be completed.
