My teaching experience sates back to running trumpet sectionals (in Junior High High School) for an All Star Jazz Band in my home town. When I was 16 I started teaching younger trumpet students as well. I descovered early on that I had a passion for directing and teaching. This stayed with me, and I always have incorporated education into my directing and leadership styles as a perormer. As a Musical Director for Royal Caribbean I would regularly have to teach an hour long show to my international band in under an hour and a half.I know that learning an instrument is hard work and that motivation is key to success. While I am new to teaching, I am hoping to create a comfortable environment where students do not feel rushed to complete pieces or practices, and we will always move at the students pace. If a student is not yet ready to move on to the next piece, then we will continue polishing whatever they need before moving on. I will always keep a log of what the student is currently working on, and what they should work on between lessons so we can always make sure things get done, and can move on to new things. I've been teaching jazz to students since 2010 and have had the opportunity to create workshops focusing on jazz history, improvisation and sound painting. I like to work with new students to build a foundation for trumpet playing and developing a solid tone and embouchure. I never assume a student cannot succeed. Progress comes quickly with a variety of songs supported by successive exercises and methodology. Parental involvement is highly recommended and I try to work with parents to determine motivational techniques. I have found that students need a regular practice time 4 to 5 times a week, even if it is only a few minutes at a time; but, hopefully, we can find music that they like to sit down and play. Apart from being the drummer for Seek Irony, I worked as a professional session drummer for ten years before moving to the US about a year and a half ago. I used to play drums for half of the music industry in Israel. So far, I’ve recorded drums on over fifty records and performed over a thousand shows in my drumming career.Right before moving to the US, I was asked to record drums for a special musical project on a song that involved Israel and China’s top singers and was meant to celebrate a twenty-year anniversary of diplomacy between the two countries.
