I have taught flute for 4 years to people of all ages -I have taught children, high school students, pre-college division music majors, college students and adult amateurs - students who have played in school and community orchestras, churches and for their own personal enjoyment. When starting off with students who are either children or complete beginners, I like to begin with Hal Leonard's All-In-One lessons book, while also incorporating individual sheet music to accentuate what the books are trying to teach. With adults, I take a quicker paced method by first establishing what direction in music they would like to go in, then introducing well-known songs of that genre into their repertoire. Both lessons groups will mainly start with a classical background to learn and reinforce proper techniques, and are then given the opportunity to branch off into any genre that entices them. I knew from an early age that I wanted music to be an integral part of my life. I began taking piano lessons at age 8, and pipe organ lessons at age 15, from my church's Minister of Music. I spent my school years playing for weddings, recitals, competitions, church services, community theater events, and of course, for my own enjoyment! I was inducted into Mu Phi Epsilon (a professional fraternity) in my senior year of college, and had the privilege of being a featured piano soloist with my college-community orchestra that same year. I have been teaching music lessons as a music therapist since 2007 and have much experience with adapted lessons for students with developmental disabilities and other limitations.  I started teaching typical lessons in addition to adapted lessons in 2013 and it has been an added joy for me. I love teaching basic music lessons and music theory to children developing strong musical roots. I encourage a regular practice schedule for all of my students to help develop strong habits and engraving music in each of their lives. In 2011, I graduated college from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, while I was there I traveled the world playing anything from jazz to rock. I studied with legendary drummer Tim Pope, the drummer for Ray Charles. After school, I started playing and teaching music professionally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have had the opportunity to play with many great artists, these artists include Blues Legend Lance Lopez of Super Sonic Blues Machine, Kayla Reeves singer from Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jim Suhler the guitarist for George Thorogood, 5 time Grammy winner Tim Alexander from Asleep at the Wheel, Grammy winning trumpet player Phil Driscoll and last but not least guitar Legend Andy Timmons from Danger Danger and Pawn Kings. I've been teaching music for more than 12 years now. I can honestly say that I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge of music.
