I hope to instill a joy and passion for music in my students. Through our work on fundamentals and etudes they will learn the skills they need to truly express themselves when they perform. I always try to ask the student what the scene of a movie would be if they are playing the soundtrack, and get them to convey that when they play. Drumming is all about repetition, and without that, drumming (and every instrument) is hard to learn! I have between lesson plans for all levels. After the first lesson, I get my students the book "Stick Control for the Snare Drummer" by George L Stone. I consider it essential for students to have great control of their hands and sticks before we really get to harder material. All lessons are taught with a metronome, and we up the tempo as we go. I am a patient and encouraging instructor who enjoys sharing music with people and working with students to teach music. I started my piano lesson at age of seven and cello at age of nine. I got my bachelor's degree from National Taiwan Normal University where the country I am originally from and my master's degree from Northern Illinois University. Past experiences include singing with the UTB/TSC Master chorale, with which he performed at the Texas Music Educators Association.
