Music Lessons in Krum, TX

Instruments: Piano Acoustic Guitar

I believe in a hands on approach.  Although I do use books to help reinforce and practice music concepts, I find that children learn through doing, so I use a hand over hand approach. I believe that one does not learn unless one wants to learn and therefore see myself less as a teacher and moreso a creator of an environment in which the student is able to teach themselves. As stated, I have taught students of all ages, from pre-K to adults. I first began teaching while I was in college and have taught ever since. While most of my career has been spent teaching privately in fine arts academies and in students' homes, for the past 7 years I have taught high school choir in Keller ISD. I love to see my students succeed and have those "aha!" moments when their individual practice begins to pay off. Read More

In our lessons we will focus on the fundamentals, then the music, and having a little fun at the end. Progress might be slow or we might be able to jump to more advanced music in the first month of meeting but I understand that every student is different and will progress at their own pace and I will do my best to help guide them. We will set goals every week and depending on if we can meet them consistently, will determine how we proceed in our lessons. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to when I was in middle school, and I taught my neighbor's kids. Since then, I have had several piano students. I have also worked for a school district as a Substitute Teacher where I had the opportunity to teach a variety of subjects and work with a multitude of students. I would like to expand on my private teaching experience, as teaching and playing piano have always come naturally to me. Read More

I've got a huge experience for all my teaching and performing life... My lessons are for all ages. I worked with young and old, from ages 6 till 90, and each lesson is tailored to the student's age and ability. After first lesson I can see what method I can use for that student. Young kids I prefer to teach by classical music pattern paying attention to technical stuff increasing technic (scales, chords, arpeggios, etudes...) Students in old ages go through more easy reading song, their favorite, using Hal Leonard's books with names keys....Everything is dependent on for sure... Read More
