We also work on long-term pieces for festivals and recitals throughout the year if they are interested in playing for those. I strongly encourage them to participate in these, helping them to feel confident and secure in these performances. I was introduced to music early on by my parents. Being classically trained on the piano I started playing and writing songs at the tender age of seven. My early piano influences are Mozart, Beethoven and Gershwin amongst others. Growing up, I became even more influenced by Pop, R&B, Funk, and Rock artists from the likes of  Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince. I have been teaching music since I was a teenager. I started with my neighborhood friends, and later at a school of music, where I also hosted showcase concerts for my students. I then went into private teaching in 2009, and have been teaching student of all ages at their homes. I also taught high school choir, which was a life changing experience for me, as it gave me new insight to older children and how musical tastes evolve as they grow older. Read More

I have taught flute for 4 years to people of all ages -I have taught children, high school students, pre-college division music majors, college students and adult amateurs - students who have played in school and community orchestras, churches and for their own personal enjoyment. While I was attending the Conservatory we were also required to take several "method" classes that involved not only knowing the history of the instrument but the history of teaching the instrument as well as teaching the instrument in front of the Conservatory faculty. In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. I began teaching private lessons part-time during my undergraduate, and I have worked full-time in education, either as a band director or private lesson teacher, for the past 14 years. As a Bachelor's and Master's student, I honed my musicianship and technique to an incredible degree; as a band director, I learned a great deal about how to connect with and break concepts down for young students. Throughout both periods, my students have found success, with several placing first or second chair in All-Region auditions and earning Outstanding Soloist in solo contests. Read More

I began teaching private flute lessons in 1988. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000, and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I now reside in Keller, Texas and have opened my flute studio to online students and the Keller/Fort Worth area.
