In 2021, I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with my Bachelor's in Music Education (EC-12). While I was there, I performed with the premier ensembles such as the UTA Jazz Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and the UTA Symphony Orchestra. While at Baylor, I was a member of the trombone studio under Brent Phillips. I played in all the instrumental ensembles avaliable to play in as a trombonist. I will work with any materials my students bring to their lessons. I am familiar with many different series of method books (Faber, Bastien, Piano Town, Thompson, etc.), but will determine what the student needs based on their age and how much they know about music in general. Some school-aged children may have been exposed to music classes before they come to me. I am happy to hear about any school district that has chosen not to cut music education from its curriculum! I have been singing and teaching for over 30 years both professionally and for my own enjoyment.  Singing is my passion, it is what I do.  I have found that teaching someone to enjoy and express themselves through music is perhaps one of the most rewarding things I do.  For the past several  years I have had the privilege to teach within several school districts as a Private Voice Instructor. These districts include Arlington ISD, Grapevine ISD, Plano ISD and Lewisville ISD.  During my time with Grapevine ISD I worked closely with Music Faculty in support of their program which included writing curriculum for the Music History program.  I work closely with my students and their Choral Director to make the musical experience fun and rewarding.  At the end of the school year the students perform in recital for their parents and friends.  I am always very proud of my students as they demonstrate what they have learned and how much they have improved through the year. I began teaching while I was still a student at the Conservatory of Music in the 1990's I was Voice Teacher at the Intermezzo Music School in Guaynabo, PR. I taught all ages from 7 - 69. I stayed there for 7 years. I also gave private singing lessons to students at my own home in Carolina, PR. And then, I proceded to give voice lessons at different churches like the Methodist Church (where I also founded and directed the choir), Evangelical Church (where I gave voice lessons at the Biblical Institute to prospect Worship Leaders). I found it important for myself as a teacher to change my teaching styles according to each student. Using the vocabulary or description that the student understands and give them what they need/want is a better way for them to learn. There's no short cut to success.
