Private lessons are a great way to give your musician a fast-track to success! I design each lesson plan tailored to the students' individual needs. Progress is the key component for the pacing of each lesson. The goals set during and between every lesson are realistic and obtainable within a reasonable time frame. It's important for students to feel successful to ensure an enjoyable experience with music as well as motivating them towards future accomplishments. Read More

Every student is different. Having only one teaching style would be very limiting and would eventually push some students away. I try to find out how each student best receives information, as well as what motivates them to play and become a better musician. From here I can form the lesson around the student's needs, making sure that we are both successful in the process. I try to have fun during lessons and create a personal bond with my students. As I've developed my skills as a teacher, I've also developed my personal music philosophy which is: My priority and my goal is to create life-long music lovers. The greatest success to me is not a student with simply a high level of achievement, but one who continues to play and love music for the rest of their life, and I focus my teaching around this. I put a high emphasis on fundamentals early, because it builds in the skills to be comfortable playing music. Read More

For beginning students, I usually prefer to use the Suzuki method, as this is the method I grew up on, and I prefer to teach the knowledge that I find useful in the method. However, my lessons are not solely based on my preference, as I identify individual strengths and weaknesses and target those in the sessions. Ability level also has a big role in planning the direction of the lesson, as I do not use Suzuki for advanced students. Read More
