Instruments: Voice
I am dedicated voice teacher that will gladly work with any age and level of experience. I am going into my senior year at Miami University with a degree in music with a focus on vocal and general music education. I have been performing since I was in high school and still do through college through choirs and individual vocal experiences. Outside of teaching voice lessons I am an elementary sunday school teacher at a local church. Read More
Instruments: Flute Piccolo
For beginning students, I typically start with the Rubank Elementary Method Flute Book by A. C. Peterson. Once the student has progressed and has managed to grasp fundamentals, we can proceed to the next volumes within the same series. For adults, I typically do my best to see what they are interested, and will guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons intriguing. I will typically assign an etude per week to my more advanced students. Read More
Instruments: Voice Music
For students before 18, I suggest them to sing more fun and lighter repertoire without trying too hard and building bad habits. For some students who need advice for auditions and competitions, I love to discuss with them openly about plans, repertoire choices, and characterization, and I offer more physical and mental practice to make them well-prepared. Most importantly, also not a lot of teachers focus on, I care about warm down practice as well. Read More
Instruments: Cello
My first teaching experience actually begins in my teens when I would teach my little brothers how to play the cello. This has given me important experience in teaching young children from the age as young as 4 years old. From there on I have taught other children and some adults totaling 3 years of total teaching experience. I also have experience in musicianship skills that are important to developing good playing for any beginner and even advanced players. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I try to push every student to be the best they can be while also providing the guidance needed. to achieve their goals Every week I set new goals as to what to work on and what to practice to give a clear idea as to what to do and how to improve. I believe in positive reinforcement and I firmly believe that it's one of the best ways to learn music. Read More
Instruments: Violin
Active, engaging, and of course, fun! I try to be as thorough as possible without overloading my student with information. The biggest challenge in the beginning is learning about you as a student and how you learn. Obviously learning an instrument is very aurally challenging, however there many ways of learning: aural, visual, tactile, etc. The more you know about your own preferred learning style, the more smoothly our lessons will start out. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Bassoon
As I've developed my skills as a teacher, I've also developed my personal music philosophy which is: My priority and my goal is to create life-long music lovers. The greatest success to me is not a student with simply a high level of achievement, but one who continues to play and love music for the rest of their life, and I focus my teaching around this. I put a high emphasis on fundamentals early, because it builds in the skills to be comfortable playing music. Read More
