I began teaching private flute lessons when I was in high school to younger students in the Amityville school district, Amityville, NY. Once I began student teaching on Long Island, I began building a small studio of flute students. I then moved to NYC where I taught in the NYC public school system for 9 years teaching 6-12 grade. In that time, I started the music program at my school where I built 5 choruses, an orchestra, recorder class, a Broadway appreciation class, a step team and completed numerous other tasks. My influences range from Ella Fitzgerald, to Dean Martin, to Tony Bennett, and Barbra Streisand, to name several. I take what I like from those artists, and add my own sound to it. I had the opportunity to perform with JT and California Dreamin in Southern California for a PBS fundraiser. That band leader is John Tu, the founded of the Sim Card. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the light in my students eyes in those "aha" moments when simple suggestions open up new possibilities of technique and musical expression.  I offer both Suzuki and traditional style lessons. I believe in teaching piano students the basics and how to read music to start. I have taught using almost every piano series available. For voice students, I teach technique, do breathing and vocal exercises, and work on songs. I teach basic music reading, interpretation of songs, as well as good techique and diction. Connection.  I believe having a connection with the student is the most important factor. I strive to become close with all of my students.  This way we can learn more efficiently while still having fun.  I spend a small portion of lesson time getting to know my students and talking about what interests them.  Sometimes, I'll take these interests and base the a lesson around it. I am a professional classical singer and vocational pianist based in New York City. As a singer, I've performed throughout the US and in Europe, including NYC's Carnegie Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, LA's Disney Hall, and the Festival Musique en l'Ile in Paris, as both a soloist and an ensemble singer.
