For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method. I introduce the student to basic instrumental technique on their chosen instrument, whether it be violin or piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I am a multi-instumentalist/performer/teacher who loves working with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. My specialty is classical music, but I am also a singer/songwriter! I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album. My teaching style is pretty heavily implied in the above sentence---when the student enters my studio, we will warm up with scales, chords, and modes. I kept students from Texas online (some of whom are still with me today) and took a year and a half break from new students to do an international tour and an off-broadway show. As a performer, I find nothing more satisfying than the communication between myself and the other perfomers, the audience, the music, the poetry, and the theater. I have been thrilled to perform in musical theater throughout Colorado and to find myself loving opera here in New York.
