I like to select a basic book on fundamentals supplemented with blues, popular, or jazz or seasonal music to Motivate the student. There will be some attention to scales and how chords are built along with other theory as it applies to the pieces they are studying. Some attention is required due to the cycle of fifths and why some keys are selected more than others. I expect the student to review our lesson no less that 4 times a week and not all at once just before the next lesson. Read More

I'm a loving-music, passionate, and creative teacher, who wants to nurture the same in my students, help them to evolve and develop the musical taste for a more fulfilled life.  In 1993, I graduated from South-Ukrainian National Pedagogical University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Pedagogy. Many of my students were working professionals, so we would work on what they needed to learn whether it be a script or a song. Some had an audition coming up. so we focus on that. Non professional students will have goals as well We can put recital dates together, or a school program or show coming up. By trying to find out what inspires each student, I can customize their instruction to help develop a passion for their instrument. Nothing is more rewarding to see a student enjoy and become a confident musician! I allow each student to move at their own pace, but always challenging them so they do not become bored. I am a graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Performing Arts where I studied Music Education. I also have a diploma in Piano Performance and Teaching from the Royal College of Music. I have been an instrumental instructor for the past 25 years, and enjoy sharing the joys of music with learners. I believe that learning to play an instrument should be an enjoyable experience.
