I like working with students in a way where our love of music is the center of our attention, as such musicality is always the goal. For beginner students who’d like to sight-read, I like to start with the Alfred Modern Guitar Method 1 and supplement that with the Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method, Grade 1, or Frederick Noad’s Solo Guitar 1 if we’re learning classical guitar. Alternatively, if the student wishes to take a route in which he/she does not sight-read musical notation, I like to start with basic picking technique, proper guitar positioning, reading tabs and chord diagrams. We learn exercises for basic technique, followed by scales and arpeggios, then we work from a method book to address technique issues specific to clarinet. After that, we work on music such as etudes, solos, and ensemble parts for band or orchestra. Getting the student to feel confident, no matter the amount they have played is important to me. I'm a laid-back, happy person and that reflects in the way I teach. I began playing tuba, trombone and bass in middle school. I won the grand-prize and special prize in National Youth wind instrument players contest (1985) competition at the age of 19, and made my concerto debut with the State Opera Orchestra later that year. I got my Bachelor degree from Music College in 1985, and Master's Degree from Gnessin Academy of Music - 1990, Moscow, Russia. In 1991-96 I was the Soloist at a State Jazz Orchestra in Moscow.I played with all major jazz musicians of post-Soviet era and frequently toured around Russia, Spain, Finland, Poland, Germany, Israel, Egypt, Greeks, Italy and Switzerland. Drum for 2 students (one student was blind).   Performance - accompanying choirs and church (acoustic piano), marching band (trumpet and percussion), worship bands (acoustic drum set and synth), and orchestra (timpani and bells). I taught myself the trumpet and achieved first chair within the first 6 months of playing (our marching band performed in Canada to California besides many places in Washington).
