I am always continuing to expand my potential as a musician and as a human being. I feel that self-knowledge equates largely to the quality and meaning of music when expressed. Technical abilities are very important of course as they set the limitations of self-expression, though many seem to overlook the deeper purposes and benefits of music. I myself love my craft. From music I gain an intellectual rise through analysis, a creative outlet through improvising and composing, and a great understanding of how my body functions most effectively. Read More

Creating and Directing my own music camp, teaching private instruction to all ages, teaching at Loyola University, Bolivian Conservatory, American Primary and Middle School and giving clinics around Bolivia, has given me the best tools and experience to share music the right way. Musicians of all levels travel from all around South America to study with me. I also have the most popular YouTube Channel for bass lessons in spanish with more than a million views. Read More

I always begin lessons with some form of warm up to focus on beauty in tone and then I follow that with exercises that build technique. I am happy to work with students with whatever method book they are currently using but I am also happy to suggest method books and literature that I feel could further guide their growth. My lessons are very student-centered in that I see what the student's goals are and work from there. Read More

I tailor my teaching method on a student to student basis. For beginners, I find what bands and music they are interested in and then pick some songs that will be easy for them to get started on quickly. I also try to incorporate basic music reading and notation, especially with younger students. For more advanced students, I assess where they are at and make sure that all fundamentals and techniques are strong, and then come up with a plan to help them progress. Read More

If you wish to educate, you must inspire first. Each student is encouraged to proceed at a pace that is suited to their aptitude, goals, schedule and drive. Positive acknowlegement of achievements, clear communication and demonstration of techniques, opportunities to play with others at a similar level of growth and an atmosphere of musical community are key to the progress of my students. To inspire, instruct, and enjoy music is the mesaage the teacher should be imparting to the student. Read More

I like to discover each students reason for taking music lessons. Then, develop a plan that will help them achieve their goals. With younger students I feel it is best to stick to the method book's plan. With older and adult students you can be more flexible. In jazz, pop, rock and blues playing I try and help them develop a good "feel";whether playing chords or soloing.I also like to focus on improvisation, using chord scales and simple riffs to develop the student's own style.I like students to bring examples of what they are listening to so we can analyze the material together and discover what gives the music it's unique character. I find the most important thing to teaching lessons is making sure the student is improving on a week to week basis, but is also having fun at the same time! After all, if what your doing isn't fun, why do it? The easiest way to have fun is to play and work on music that the student wants to play, It can't all be etudes and exercises can it? Read More
