For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For some students who need advice for auditions and competitions, I love to discuss with them openly about plans, repertoire choices, and characterization, and I offer more physical and mental practice to make them well-prepared. For beginning students, I like to work out of the Rubank Elementary Method book. We further move on to the Intermediate and Advanced methods while also adding solo repertoire that is suitable to their skill level. Along with these method books, we will also work on music that they personally enjoy. Disney music and easy Gershwin pieces are good staples for a beginning student along with their traditional method books. Read More

I like to create a combination of my own supplementary material, along with what the students are preparing for classes or outside engagements. I believe in a very strong fundamental background and have created a set of exercises geared to maximize effectiveness, and guarantee progress. Excellence in preparation leads to excellence in performance, and a focus on fundamentals builds the skillset and the confidence to achieve. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Arban's Trumpet Method Book. Any brass instrument can play from this book! Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
