For my piano students, I like to use a mixture of books from the Alfred, Bastien, and John W. Schaum collections. I eventually assign more advanced solo repertoire as the student progresses. For my vocal students, I pick music based on their interests and vocal qualities. I have taught my students musical theater, opera, art song, gospel, pop, and many other styles throughout the years. I also like to make sure my students have a solid understanding in music theory and often give out worksheets that help them practice how to sight read, recognize different key signatures, and more. I typically use the Alfred books for young beginning students. In these books, children learn the geography of the keyboard and learn about the contours of musical notation and by the end are using both hands. For adults, as well as intermediate children and up, I prefer the Michael Aaron series for intermediate and beyond. For beginning adults I use the Aaron Musical Primer. I also use the Aaron Technic for advanced performers. Read More

All of my students work on tried and true Bel Canto and Swedish techniques. I will give each student special vocal exercises to work on at home. I generally assign songs from The 24 Italian Songs and Arias songbook and I use Musical Theater Anthologies. Some of my more advanced High School students work on Opera arias. Read More

I am passionate about teaching music to all ages and all levels. I love teaching beginners, I love teaching professionals. All teaching excites me because I am learning alongside my students. It's important to me that students learn how to practice, to have a part in selecting their music and feel excited about their lessons. I have performed at national and international performance venues, both in chamber music and orchestra work, where I have also been a concerto soloist several times. Read More

I have been drumming and performing music for nearly 30 years. I started out playing by ear at 5 years of age and shortly after received professional lessons. I became interested in a diverse variety of musical genres that grew as I did. I was very lucky to have two supportive parents, Bryan and Deborah who noticed my talents and nurtured them at a very young, impressionable age, introducing me to different instruments and live music. I teach in all styles. I believe technology is a big part of today's music industry and needs to be taught. Every student has a different intention for studying an instrument. It's important to understand his or hers intention. My best teacher was the hardest on me and gave me the best results. I’m very fun, but also know when to push people to do things they never thought they would be able to do. Read More
