I have been teaching music lessons as a music therapist since 2007 and have much experience with adapted lessons for students with developmental disabilities and other limitations.  I started teaching typical lessons in addition to adapted lessons in 2013 and it has been an added joy for me. I encourage goal-setting by the student in addition to my goals. This helps a student know what he or she is working toward, which I've found to be helpful especially in the knitty-gritty moments of learning how to play. Setting goals also gives students the chance to achieve milestones throughout the process and define their success as musicians, making them eager to continue on in the process of learning. It was my 4th grade dream to play Carnegie Hall, so I practiced practiced practiced and finally got my shoot as a senior in high school. After focusing on such a singular goal, I began to see what this amazing instrument can do. I am currently working on making the world's first ever six string glass electric cello,as seen in my profile picture. I am a lover of music that has always enjoyed sharing it with others. I have been involved in musical activities all through since grade school. I graduated with a Master of Music Arts with a specialty in teaching from Texas Woman's University so I could better share my love of music. I have also been in one choir or another over the years. I sang with the Denton Community Chorus, Nairobi Concert Choir and had the privilege of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the Texas Woman's University Concert Choir. Read More
