In my lessons I use snare drum method books such as Mitchell Peters Intermediate Book or Stick Control by George Stone to teach reading and basic hand technique. Once I feel the student is proficient in reading and technique I move on to drumset coordination books as well as learning drum parts to the students favorite music. I also teach techniques for xylophone, tympani and other classical percussion instruments. I have an extensive library of music books and techniques so if one method doesn't work I have no problem customizing my lesson plan to fit the student's need.
I teach music first and instruments second. Kids (and adults) can acquire motor skills anytime and virtuoso technique on the violin is hardly useful in a orchestra setting or improvised music setting. The problem I usually run into with kids is when they find out their favorite song doesn’t even have guitar. This happened when a young man wanted to learn a rap song and was convinced they had guitar because the rapper strapped one on in his video. He just wanted to be the rapper, not be a guitar player. There’s a difference between wanting to be a rock star and wanting to be a good musician. Both are equally valid. Just make sure your child is honest with himself and you about it and everything will work out fine. I can teach those kids too. Any child who wants to integrate music into their expression I can teach something to. When you introduce a child to musical form and time early on you build a canvas of sorts which is an especially good vehicle for some individuals. Having said that, they won’t be idling. I do teach technique, and they will aquire it. Music is an exceptional discipline builder, maybe the best in my opinion. In the end I try to teach them how to teach themselves. The way I see it, the more a kid has an instrument in his hands and is interested in playing it, we’ll all be better off.
I graduated from CSUN and studied classical percussion, Latin percussion and jazz drumset. I have worked on cruise ships and travelled the world playing all kinds of music. I currently play every Sunday at The Venice Bistro with a Doors Tribute band called Peace Frog. The first set is all ages at 5:30 pm! Come enjoy the show!
I generally use different methods with different students. Since I expect excellence, I tend to treat students as professional colleagues, expecting them to work as hard and effectively as I do. I tend to develop my own methods as we progress, encouraging introspection by the student and developing a sense of musical independence. Success is subjective; enjoying one's journey is not. If a student is not enjoying the process then what's the use? For vocal coaching, I use a variety of warm-ups discovered over the years and music from all styles for technique, diction studies, sight reading practice, and ear training.
I love music! I love sharing the gift of creating music! I have been playing drums since the age of 5 and continue to this day to feel the energy and joy performing and making music brings! I started out as a Marching band drummer alongside Lenny Kravitz, whom I made a better drummer and from then on have perfomed in numerous bands throughout the years! My hands-on approach and step-by-step routines will surely inspire and motivate any age student to learn and enjoy all aspects of being the BACKBEAT for a group! I am versed in many styles of drumming so there will be no lack of different rhythms, beats and fun grooves to work on! I look forward to working with you soon!

In home lessons are a convenient option for improving your musical skills, and are virtually the same in every aspect as lessons taught in a studio. Lessons are usually taught once a week and significant progress can be made in a short time. Of course, teachers will suggest that students practice every day for the best results.
Musika understands that students want to feel safe before having a teacher come into their home, or before going to a teachers studio. Therefore, Musika hand screens all teachers and performs background checks using Intellicorp, a leading provider of screening solutions.
Many parents start their children with music lessons to enrich their lives and give them a fun activity outside of school. Music is a great outlet for students of all ages because it challenges both the mind and the body. Many studies have been conducted suggest music can improved test scores in math and science, and can also promote improved language development in young children. The biggest benefit of studying music is that it lays a foundation for a lifetime appreciation of music!

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

I would like to thank Polina for the series of classical piano lessons I've taken recently. Polina is a fantastic teacher and a high class performer, and I'm really happy I had a chance to meet her! I believe anyone can benefit from the teaching method Polina is practicing regardless of the student proficiency - from beginners to advanced performers. It was a pleasure for me to study classical piano courses under the guidance of such an intelligent & professional teacher! Without doubt, my playing technique has improved a lot and I have signed up for the new classes online already.

Laura is a fabulous teacher. She explains concepts to me using concrete examples so that I can understand changes that I need to make to my posture, breathing, phrasing, etc. She makes warm-up exercises fun, and she's got a great sense of humor over all. Her teaching style is collaborative, more egalitarian (she respects what I already know and meets me at my level), tailored to my particular interests and strengths, and I always look forward to our lessons!

Laura is the kind of teacher you wish you had in all your studies: gracious, easy-going, light-hearted, yet behind the easy going exterior is an excellent musical mind with everything at her fingertips. I've had about 5 teachers in my life who count as really influential people, and Laura easily fits that category. She lets you be yourself so that you are fully present rather than old-school doctrinaire style, what I call "stiff as a German, sig-heil" teachers. She's the polar opposite. Brava, Laura! Thank you so much!

I was skeptical at first not knowing what I was getting my self into.. I am very happy that I forced myself to get into voice lessons because Eli is an awsome voice coach.. Very skillful and he helps you reach the goal you are trying to reach.. He is also very helpful with getting you to open up and come out of your shell and being heard.. I would and I already have recommended friends and family to sign up with Eli if they're serious about singing..

She is the most amazing teacher ever. She is not only w great teacher but she's so fun to work with. She has taught me so many things in such little amount of time things I didn't even know I could do. I recommend Andrea to everyone. She is an amazing singer and cares a lot about her students. Andrew is very encouraging and uplifting, but also isn't afraid to tell you your weaknesses. Andrew also is super awesome with scheduling. Fits around your schedule all the time. He really knows what he is doing and can help you reach your goal in the time you would like to. Couldn't have gotten a better teacher, who continually helps me grow and pushes me.

I am in my 60s and decided to get back into playing my guitar. I thought taking lessons would be a good way to formalize the endeavor. I did have some concern about whether working with a teacher would work out as I've behave only played for my own enjoyment for a long time. Peter and I have had a few lessons together and I am truly enjoying the experience. He is very supportive and flexible. We arrived at a three gold approach that is really working for me. We focus on developing a playlist, learning some of the more iconic tunes from leading artist that I would have a hard time learning on my own and developing some technical skills related to style and music theory. Now I look forward to my next lesson and am already playing better and enjoying the journey. Peter is a great teacher I'm lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

“My son and I have been taking lessons with Lynn for 5 or 6 years now. She is very patient with younger students (& older students having "senior moments"). She is also flexible in her lessons in that if we want to work on theory, jazz, rock, blues, she will cater to our requests.” – Karl B., C.P.A., Aug 2015
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
