Young students will be taught using a variety of games, activities, and found in Suzukis theories. Music History and Music Theory are offered to intermediate and advanced students. I teach intermediate through advanced students of any instrument, beginning with basics such as key and time signatures and basic harmony. My recent professional theater credits include: GYPSY (Louise) at The Covedale Center for the Arts (Nomination from The League of Cincinnati Theater for BEST ACTRESS), Title Role in MARY POPPINS at The Renaissance Theater, BRIGADOON (u/s Fiona) and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at The Wick Theater, and Ensemble roles in SOME PEOPLE HEAR THUNDER (The Capital Repertory Theater) and MAMMA MIA (Theatre Aspen). I will constantly insist on stern focus on the material being played- offering big picture ideas as to why a piece is being practiced in a certain way, while asking the student to tell me why such and such a method makes sense. I like for a student to look at a piece of music and then to explain to me what they think it is. Their perception is different than my perception and I can learn a lot about how to teach them based on how much they may already understand or do not understand. Understanding musical concepts and musical language is important and I emphasize getting basic concepts right immediately.
