Steve is originally from the Binghamton, NY area and began studying drums at the age of 12 with local jazz musician Tony Monforte. He participated in the All State Orchestra and was placed on the Pro-Mark Honor Roll for young, up-and-coming drummers. Steve received a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY where he studied with Gordon Stout, Steve Brown, and Robert Bridge. He was selected to participate in the Henry Mancini Institute where he worked with some of the leading jazz, film, and classical musicians and composers from around the world including Terence Blanchard, Bud Shank, Christian McBride, and Jerry Goldsmith. I have been teaching, recording, producing, and performing music since I was 14. I have 60 productions, currently from a 3 piece band, and perform across the Triangle. I have my own business with over 20 students weekly. I also work for two local music instruction companies and teach an audio production course after school at Duke Middle. Outside of Towson University, I was a woodwind specialist with the Westminster High School Marching Band. I have worked in various music stores including Bill’s Music House in order to strengthen my knowledge and pedagogy of other wind instruments. Professional memberships include Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity and the National Association for Music Education.
