My method is very flexible and student specific. Everyone learns slightly differently and has their own unique strengths. In general, I have a "sound before sight" method. Students learn music thoroughly, aurally and theoretically before trying to read it off the page. Imagine trying to learn a language by being handed a book. We then use your innate understanding of the music to inform your technique and the way you approach the instrument. Read More

Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More

I am originally from Warrenville, IL where I discovered my love of violin while studying with Dr. Lee Joiner at Wheaton College. I graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2022 in the studio of Professor Oleh Krysa, and am continuing with my Master's degree in Performance and Literature with Professor Yoojin Jang. My mother is a piano teacher so I grew up around in a very musical household where I got to experience a community of students and teachers. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements as well as learn the basic techniques on how to play the saxophone. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, regardless of their ability level. Read More

I have had a strong passion for music for as long as I can remember. It brings me great joy to share and teach my passion with other aspiring musicians. I recently graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Master of Music in Jazz Studies degree. I have been very fortunate to tour with the band, ILL Doots, multiple times in addition to performing in various settings that constantly push my musical boundaries whether I'm playing drums, vibes, piano, or auxilliary percussion. I fell in love with music at a young age, hearing relatives sing and play, and began taking guitar and bass lessons as a teen. I then majored in bass and music at Onondaga Community College, which is known for it's music program. I have had the opportunity to tour the country with a band out of Austin, Texas, as a signed professional musician with a national act. I recorded a love show for XM Radio, and have had a song played on NPR. Read More
