I'm originally from Idaho, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. I came to Colorado five years ago to attend University of Colorado. For me, enjoyment as well as developing proper, healthy technique is key. This means that student may have to do more gritty work than with other teachers, but this pays off as they get to tackle more challenging rep and ultimately can connect skills to repertoire more quickly. However, I always like to meet students where they're at. If they want to learn how to play their favorite pop song on piano, or want to audition for their local theater's musical theater production, my priority will always be teaching in ways that the student feels is relevant to their goals and interests. Over the past few years I've been a guest Instructor at Summer UCamps, Performing Arts Camp for Students grades 3-12. I've studied personally with world renowned Victor Wooten and have been nominated for a Grammy in 2008 for bass performance on Blues Legend John Lee Hooker Jr's Album "All Odds Against Me". Since 2006, I have toured internationally in Europe, Central America, Africa, Caribbean Islands, Scandinavia, Canada, and North America, sharing the stage with B.B.King, Lenny Kravitz, ZZ Top, and more. During this time I developed my skills in playing marching snare drum, drum-set, marimba, and concert percussion instruments. After graduating from Rangeview High School, I volunteered for a year as the drum line teacher. The following year, I became a paid percussion instructor, leading the group to win several competitions. During this time, I also attended the Community College of Aurora, studying studied Music, Business, and Film.
