In my late teens I taught myself to play the guitar and bass guitar, and I have spent my whole life learning the ins and outs of music through theory, composition, and performance. I hold no degrees or certifications other than a degree in environmental science, but I have put more hours into independent musical study than anyone my age who has chosen to pursue a degree in music. I began teaching voice as a school project when I was 14 years old and realized that I I loved it! From then on, I always kept my hand in teaching throughout my high school and college years. I started teaching full time, at which point I added piano and speaking to my repertoire. I have experience as a performing singer, session musician and actor and I I love helping my students get the most out their lessons, whether they simply want to learn their instrument to the best of their ability, or learn more about writing music and the industry. My teaching style is fairly easy going. I don't force unrealistic expectations on students because everyone is learning music for a different reason. I like to figure out what their reason is and progress accordingly. If it's a young student looking to continue music throughout their school career, I will make sure they learn how to read sufficiently and I will make sure they know how to play with peers by performing with the student as an accompanist.
