I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated high school in 2004 and went on with a full scholarship at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, TX. I played first trumpet part all throughout middle and high school and even in college. Also in college I participated in the Jazz band there throughout my 2 years. I also won numerous awards throughout my musical education for solo and ensemble performances and region band competitions with making state band one year. Read More
Instruments: Piano
My methods vary with the age of the student. For beginners who are children, I usually start with Alfred's Basic Piano Library, which I try to go through most of that series. During that time, the children will occasionally play anything they wish to play that is interesting or fun to them. When they are finished, we will go into many different solo pieces for them to play to further advance their knowledge and performance of music. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I've had great teaching experiences since I've been teaching. I teach students the basics and then work on their own music. This keeps the student interested, keeping them wanting to practice. I believe practice is the key to success. I also teach music reading which helps the student to learn how to see music on the page. I have three steps to success. 1) drum rudiments, we focus on the rudiments which gives the student a better understanding on how to play the drums. 2) I focus on reading which give the student more confidence when playing 3) I focus on ear training which helps the student to play music that is heard while giving the student a better understanding on how to play with a group Read More
Instruments: Violin Cello Viola Electric Violin Double Bass Music
For beginning students, I always start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I've found this book to be the best at introducing the instrument and reading the music. I may or may not continue teaching out of the books (there's 3), but that depends on the student. By book 2 or 3 I usually begin introducing Suzuki, as there are many solo pieces for them. Suzuki is also great for teaching technique, which is essential to their skill-set. Read More
