I've had great teaching experiences since I've been teaching. I teach students the basics and then work on their own music. This keeps the student interested, keeping them wanting to practice. I believe practice is the key to success. I also teach music reading which helps the student to learn how to see music on the page. I have three steps to success. 1) drum rudiments, we focus on the rudiments which gives the student a better understanding on how to play the drums. 2) I focus on reading which give the student more confidence when playing 3) I focus on ear training which helps the student to play music that is heard while giving the student a better understanding on how to play with a group Read More

I have been teaching for over three years now. I started teaching friends and family members in my home. My key points are musical technique and consistent practice. I try to teach music as a form of language, much like Victor Wooten teaches. The most important thing is keeping things interesting for both me and the student, while still preparing them for school performances and recitals. I am always excited to teach my students, as well as help them succeed in any endeavor they choose. Read More

I began taking up to three lessons a week with a blast beat and heavy metal emphasis for the next year and a half. During this time I had the opportunity to begin assisting as a drum tech for a local band. Read More

Andy uses method books, but also sheet music of the student's favorite songs to balance technique with enjoyment. Andy is well versed in all styles of music in addition to theory, ear training and improvisation, giving his students a well rounded experience with music. Read More

For my novice students I will use the John W. Schaum piano course. We will begin with scales and arpeggios. Once these students have grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce repertoire appropriate for their first solo recital. My goal is to instill in them an appreciation for the classical music of the 18th and 19th century such as that of the Three Bs (Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms). Read More
