I began teaching privately in high school when a family friend had asked me to teach their beginner son music and trumpet. Since then, I have had the opportunity to teach all sorts of people ranging from as young as 6 years old, to 64 years old. Genres , artist etc. I believe as an artist you should make your own choices and see for yourself what kind of singer you want to be. That starts with the choice of song you choice then we can work our way up to learning it and perfecting it. I encourage my students to practice and think about how to approach new materials to make it less frustrating for my students. In addition, I use familiar melodies which includes classical and modern selections to help support the learning. I treat each student as an individual and spend time getting to understand their goals, musical tastes, learning style, and ability level. As we get to know each other I guide the student through exercises, repertoire, techniques, and concepts that are specifically catered to build a foundation to achieve their unique goals. I currently work as a pianist for various Ballet companies and have studied music performance at the Juilliard School and San Francisco Conservatory of music. We will learn and explore the capabilities of the very large instrument by studying literature and repertoire that helped develop the instrument into what it is today. I graduated from the Hartt School of Music of the University of Hartford in 2013 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. The operatic roles that I performed while at the Hartt School include Leila in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe and The Strawberry Woman in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
