I am a recent university graduate who is passionate about sharing my love of music with students, and developing that devotion with them! I have a special interest in performing, so my lessons reflect my training in performance with major orchestras. Part of our final project included giving a sample lesson to a colleague, and I fell in love with helping someone achieve their goal through singing. I have taught in several different settings over the years, but my private studio has been the most satisfying environment. I've even continued my percussion studies while in Cincinnati, studying with James Culley of the world-famous Percussion Group Cincinnati. Education has been very important to me - not just my own, but that of others as well. I've been involved with teaching for over 10 years, from my early days of being a section leader in high school to private percussion teaching throughout my undergraduate years, and I intend to keep teaching for the rest of my life. I believe in a very strong fundamental background and have created a set of exercises geared to maximize effectiveness, and guarantee progress. Excellence in preparation leads to excellence in performance, and a focus on fundamentals builds the skillset and the confidence to achieve.
