My teaching experience began during my college years, as I commenced providing private lessons on a part-time basis eight years ago. For the past five years, I have been devoted to teaching students in my home studio. I emphasize the importance of regular practice on a consistent schedule, particularly for younger students, as this approach significantly contributes to their progress and fosters a passion for the instrument. I have also observed that incorporating a mix of classical and contemporary music greatly enhances students' enjoyment of the piano, thereby motivating them to practice and continue their learning journey. Instruments: Violin Cello Viola
I started playing the cello in 5th grade after attending a Middle School showcase where they showed off all their clubs to rising 6th grade students. I ran away from my mother after seeing the Cellist play and went to talk to him. She found me an hour later in the Orchestra room playing with the instrument. Like the great mother she is, she took me to a local music store and had me playing shortly afterwards. Read More

For younger students, I will be using Suzuki Cello School to guide instruction. When students have successfully completed the Suzuki books, I will introduce them to pieces that would be suitable for a recital performance. For adults, I will base instruction off of Suzuki but also find material that will keep the learning process fun and enjoyable. This would include any modern or contemporary pieces that students are familiar with. Read More

Percussion in a huge family of instruments. As a percussionist, you might be ask to play drum set one night, congas the next, and triangle the night after that! Over time, I have collected many methods for all the different instruments and styles that the percussionfamily encompasses. Depending on what you want to learn, I have a method or we can tailor something just for you. Read More

There is no such thing as a "best method for everybody" but better methods for people's unique needs. For beginners, texts from Hal Leonard, Jamey Aebersold and Alfred's piano course are great examples to guide students through, but ultimately the specific text doesn't matter as long as I can teach the fundamentals necessary to be performance ready. After the basics are mastered, I'll introduce the skills needed for a first recital. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I access their skills after a handful of lessons and adjust to their needs going forward for them to continue to advance as musicians. Read More
