I firmly believe in individual learning processes. Once I determine each student's learning style, I design my lessons to adhere to that style. Most students prefer a combination of vocal instruction and hands-on demonstration of theory and technique. I am now opening a new studio in the Atlanta metro as I begin a new position at Georgia State University. I also teach beginning-intermediate piano. I began teaching at Derby Yamaha Music School, UK, coaching classes and private lessons for voice and piano. After leaving England, I began teaching at Pladd Dot Music, Statesboro. Here, I taught many students both voice and piano. Two in particular required coaching in their respective pageant and regional championship. Working together on technique etc, the students gained the title of Miss Hummingbird, as well as qualification to Miss Georgia, and qualification to regional championship this summer (2016). My teaching methods are relatively universal. With younger students, I focus more on learning to have fun while learning about their instrument at the same time. The more fun they're having, the more likely they are to stick to it. For adults, I keep this same philosophy in tact, but incorporate more technique, theory, and performance practice into our sessions in order to facilitate the learning curve. I began teaching private lessons full time in 2011. I know that when students have fun and see progress at every lesson, they are motivated to become better musicians. As a result, progress is quicker and my students retain what they have learned. At the age of 17, I flew to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute where I studied Bass Guitar Performance. Learning from and playing with some of the best musicians in the business was amazing. I left school to hit the road with my first professional band. I spent the next 20+ years writing, recording and touring all over the country. I was lucky enough to be in a few bands that landed indie recording contracts, which allowed me to tour nationally doing original music, with songs I had written being played on radio and on TV shows across the country. I began assisting teachers during high school for extra credit. It later became my job during Full Sail. I worked extensively with grades K-5 on reading, writing and math skills enrichment.
