My training is in Musical Theatre, and that is my expertise, however I believe that any strong singer must start with proper technique and familiarity with his/her own unique intstrument. I tailor a student's curriculum to their musical goals and needs, while making sure that I am instilling the fundamentals needed for pursuing music at the college scholarship level. Often this means scales, chords, arpeggios, music literacy, performance practice and listening skills. To accomplish this, I use standard materials that are often available online and are used by college and University music programs around the world. I have no expectations of my students until they show me what they're capable of. After our first two lessons, I start to really stress the importance of practicing on their own time as well. Singing is part muscle memory and your muscles can't memorize what they aren't consistently doing! I use a very kinesthetic approach to my teaching in that I focus on how the entire body feels when my student is singing the correct way versus how it feels when they are singing incorrectly (unhealthily). My teaching experience began in spring 2008 at a local church where taught piano drums classes as a music instructor to students ranging from ages 5-18. Throughout college I was a piano and voice instructor at the Boys and Girls Club Music Clubhouse in Boston MA where I continued teach students ranging from ages 10-18.For the past three years I have continued to provide private instruction and tutoring for students of all ages.I find that my students have a much more pleasurable learning experience, when they are able to apply what they learn in ways that are meaningful to their desire and aspirations.I've always encouraged my students to uphold a positive work ethic and mindset when embarking on their musical journey.
