For children and beginning studetns, I will typically start in a level one method book. This allows us to get acquainted with the instrument and some terminology that may be a bit foriegn for some students. This also provides an opportunity to learn how to read basic notes and chords which will highly accelerate our learning process. For those with experience and established musical interests, I will form a plan and practice schedule based around the interest and concepts that the student seeks from theirmusical quest. Read More

For beginners, on piano I def reccomend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Also, "My Favorite Solo Album," by Max Eckstein. Once progression and consistency has been developed I always encourage my students to share what they have learned in to a recital performance. I always make sure to teach what the student is interested in no matter what their ability is because with practice and a good student mentality my tudents achieve their goals quicker than usual. I encourage my students to have notebooks, recorders, and to learn basic accompaniment via keyboard or guitar. This will help them to expand on their practices at home and feel empowered to create music on their own. I like to keep track of my students accomplishments and enjoy encouraging them along their musical journey. Each student comes with their own unique abilities, talents and training and I believe it is my duty to meet my students where they are at and gradually bring them towards where they desire to be and where I also see their greatest potential. My passion for sharing knowledge begin during my time as high school tuba section leader, which led to Senior band president. Assisting my peers so we could sound better via musical corrections, this would build our confidence levels and the moral throughout the ensemble. I furthered my passion for music at Berklee College of Music, where I studied various aspects, methods, and approaches to educating someone about the art of music. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to my high school days, where I began to teach private lessons part time ten years ago. Since then, I have been consistently been teaching students in private studios. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule and motivate my students on a daily basis. I also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoying playing instruments. Read More

I was born in Joliet, IL to totally non musical parents. But at the young age of10, I discovered it. A music program for my class with live musicians playing realinstruments ignited my life long vocation. From that day to this, my fascination with music has only gotten stronger. After 5 years of accordion lessons I began to take an interest in the guitar and started taking lessons. Through the years I have not only developed a love for the guitar, but the love of teaching the guitar. Read More
