Tommy also holds his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, where he studied with Dr. David Gresham. While doing this, I will have the student pick a song they like, whether it be pop, country, jazz, classical, and begin to learn it by ear to begin to develop solid aural recognition. I stress the study of etudes not only to develop technique but more importantly to develop the student's own unique musical inner voice. When students progress to reading, the full line of Suzuki books can of course be utilized, but it is very advisable to incorporate additional materials and techniques.
