Jazz trumpeter and composer Jeff L. is a Grammy member and two time SXSW Austin Music Awards winner. Jeff has performed at One World Theater, Stateside at the Paramount, and the Long Center for the Performing Arts since his arrival on the Austin music scene in 2007. Singing lessons should always be fun and positive. A student should come out of a voice lesson with new knowledge that they can then go and apply during their practice at home. I am a firm believer that most of the learning is done outside the lesson through the student's application of what he/she learned during the lesson. My belief is that I am a guide to the student, but the student must meet me halfway, so that we can learn from each other, work together, and find what works best for the student's voice. Read More

I also make myself available to all students at anytime for questions during their practice. I have a system of teaching jazz improvisation that ensures that every student can play and read changes. Both of my degrees were in music education, although I did start a second masters degree in jazz studies. Since 1981, I've been teaching in several settings. I was a full time public school band director for four years, and have taught all the way to the college level and adults, teaching classes in jazz studies and private lessons on saxophone.
