After gaining a full schedule of students, I decided to initiate semester recitals to allow students the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. It is one of my favorite memories as an instructor! The pride on a student's face after they've demonstrated something at which they've worked so hard is the ultimate reward of teaching. After completing my teaching degree at Texas State University and accepting a full-time position, I devoted myself to my new career and no longer taught music lessons. Read More

I allow students to work at their own pace while also setting realistic attainable goals. I want students to feel relaxed during their lessons so I try to establish an atmosphere that's both informal yet studious. One of my top priorities as a teacher is to understand what a student is most interested in and then focus our lessons on what they love. The best way to understand technique and theory is to apply it to something that you enjoy so I always try to attain this! Read More

I teach beginner to intermediate levels for violin and all levels beginner to advanced for viola. I love to combine classical and modern music when teaching students. Read More

Being in the studio and creating songs had me pick up the piano, ukulele, and bass guitar which I then took on as instruments I teach. Through the years, I learned to concurrently teach the musical fundamentals to my students along with how those fundamentals apply to their instrument in a broad context! I intend to always tailor my lessons to my students desires, needs, and curiosity and keep the inspiration thriving. Read More

I have a deep love for teaching and performing music. While in high school I taught students, played in several performing groups, and toured Europe with a youth orchestra composed of students from all over the United States. I earned my degree in violin performance from the University of Texas in 1981, having served several times as concertmaster of the University of Texas Symphony and taught students in the University of Texas String Project.
